LaMont earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Argosy University in Schaumburg, IL and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois.
LaMont has spoken at different agencies within his community such as Highland Community College and the Boys and Girls Club of Stephenson County. Additionally, he has experience working as a Mental Health Therapist in the clinical setting. He treats children, adolescents, and adults using crisis and individual therapy.
LaMont is well rounded with experience. He was a Law Enforcement Officer for 18 years in the city of Freeport, IL as a Patrol Officer. He was a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and spent 6 years working as the School Resource Officer (SRO) for Freeport Middle School, Freeport High School, and Freeport Alternative School. As the SRO, LaMont worked closely with the school’s Social Worker and Psychologist.
Additionally, he worked for 3 years as a Child Protection Investigator for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). LaMont has an array of experience not only with youth, but adults as well. He is equipped with excellent judgment and reasoning.
