I am a licensed professional counselor operating from a Gestalt theoretical framework. This means that I aim to help you bring your awareness to the present moment, and to clarify any unfinished business from the past, thus empowering you to live holistically as you progress through to the future.
I look at the therapeutic relationship as one of collaboration—counselor and client are working together toward shared goals of client empowerment and authenticity. You are the expert on yourself; I am here simply to reflect what is present, thus demystifying the often-confusing experience of being human. My backgrounds in the performing arts and social justice inform this approach to counseling by lending me the tools necessary for open-exploration, non-judgement, and supportiveness. I enjoy utilizing mindfulness techniques, creativity, and natural connectedness within the counseling space.
The breadth of my experience includes counseling couples and adults, specifically individuals with histories of trauma, substance abuse, attachment difficulties, anger mismanagement, and those within the foster care system. In addition to education in Gestalt Therapy, I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the use of Sand Tray Therapy.
